Abstract

A major change in the novelists of the 21st century is that they show an intellectual retreat towards their local cultures. Novelists deviated towards their locale. Khalid Fateh Muhammad belongs to Gujranwala district of central Punjab. He drew attention to the serious problem of water scarcity in Koh-i-Garan. Due to the drying up of Chenab river, the region is facing water scarcity which may intensify in the coming years. In the narrative of the novel, all the colors of the life of central Punjab are present with full magnificence. In the novel, various social concepts are also described in addition to customs and relationships.
