Urdu and Pothohari: A Syntactic Study

Abstract

Urdu and Pothohari belong to the same Indo-Aryan family, so their linguistic templates are almost the same. Pothohari and Urdu have many similarities in Morphology and Syntax, and their vocabulary is also most of the same. In this paper, the syntactic study of Urdu and Pothohari is presented. The linguistic relation between these languages is discussed in the context of Nominal Phrase, Verbal Phrase, Taxeme of Selection, Construction of Sentence, and Derivative and Compound Words. Only the Syntax is analyzed because discussing all the linguistic aspects will be a long account, which cannot be expressed in a few pages.
