A Colonial Study Of Urdu Safar Nama Sair E Mulk E Oudh

Abstract

Yousuf Khan Kambal Posh is a prominent name in Urdu Travelogues. He has been familiarized due to his first travelogue namely Aajaibat e Farang. While his second travelogue is Sair e Mulk e Oudh. This travelogue was discovered and edited a few years ago and it was published in a book form in 2017. The study of this travelogue shows that the writer is very much influenced by the culture and thoughts of the colonizers. He finds his Eastern civilization and all its laws weak and irrational. In this travelogue the role of the writer comes as a facilitator who is trying to impress the local people with the moral values and habits of the colonizers. This research article will analyze the colonial context of Sair e mulk e Oudh.
